Terms & Methodology

AltRare combines live marketplace data with structural fundamentals to produce a price forecast for each card across 30-day, 6-month and 12-month horizons. The model blends five signal families:

• Recent price deltas — 7d / 30d / 90d trend vs moving averages.
• Liquidity — recent sold-listing volume as a demand proxy.
• Scarcity — rarity tier, print run age, out-of-print status.
• Cross-marketplace spread — eBay vs Cardmarket vs TCGplayer.
• Demand momentum — search interest and listing velocity.

Each forecast is paired with a confidence score (Low / Medium / High) and a risk rating reflecting volatility and supply uncertainty.

We aggregate data from official, rate-limited APIs and approved partner programs:

• Pokémon TCG API (cards, sets, prices)
• eBay Browse API (active & sold listings — official integration)
• Cardmarket / TCGplayer trend prices

We do not scrape restricted marketplaces or bypass terms of service. Rate limits and attribution requirements are respected.

• Forecasts are estimates, not guarantees. Trading card prices are volatile and can be moved sharply by reprints, format rotations, tournament results, influencer coverage and broader collectible-market sentiment.
• Past performance is not predictive of future results.Historical trends are an input, not a promise.
• Thinly traded cards have wide error bars. Confidence drops significantly when recent sales volume is low.
• Grading & condition matter. Our base prices reflect raw / NM copies unless explicitly noted. Graded (PSA / BGS / CGC) prices behave differently.
• External shocks are not modelled. Lawsuits, set leaks, manufacturer policy changes and macro economic conditions can invalidate any forecast overnight.
